Ripley is the center of our world. She's our baby. Named after Sigourney Weaver's character from the movie "Aliens", she races around like an Alien, plus she's bald like Sigourney in the (2nd?) movie.
Who dresses a cat? You try ignoring your shivering hairless cat. You'd dress her too. Summer is fine, but she gets cold in the winter. Her pink hoodie was a gift, and she's super cute in it.
Ripley has a recurring eye infection (allergies?) that requires meds. Last Sunday I spent the night at the Emergency vet - same problem, but her heart murmur has gotten much worse.
Today we had our appointment with the cardiologist. Finally, a bit of good news in our shit summer. She has Dominant Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (DR.VOTO, as the vet calls it) - blood pumps into her heart too quickly, but not a huge problem. It makes a lot of heart noise, but it's okay. She also has a thickening of the left valve (mitral valve displaysia), but in no need of meds yet, and a thickening of the left ventricle wall, again no meds needed. The DR.VOTO was a benign problem - they want a follow up echo cardiogram in 4-6 months (or they could use another $750 around the holidays). We'll watch her and keep our fingers crossed.
Thank goodness, if there had been something REALLY wrong, I would have lost my shit. She is the love of our lives.
